Windows 10 End of Life Fear: Part II (09/23/2025)
Last month my blog post went over the ways to extend Windows 10 for another year using the Microsoft Extended Security Update (ESU) program. Their documentation shows how much that the service was going to charge. You could use money or your Microsoft points to enroll.
I finally got the enrollment update for my Windows 10 Pro device, and I didn’t have to pay a cent for this device as it was free. I signed-in using my Microsoft account and enrolled with no charge.
Today, a second Windows 10 device received the enrollment update. I used the same email address that was used on my first device and was able to enroll free of charge.
2 for 2.
I have read that 10 devices can be added to an account. I have read so many different articles from Microsoft and others and found this process to be very confusing as all have mentioned that a payment would be required.
So far, I have not spent a cent or used my points. Both machines are Windows 10 Professional.
I have a third machine awaiting the update and am confident that this will be added as well without any issues or cost.
After a few days, my third device was activated successfully. 3 for 3. I am good for the next year while I start to plan the upgrades my hardware.
I am curious as my account is a personal account. I wonder if a business account might have to pay. Has anyone out there used a business account and paid for ESU?

Are you still going crazy with your Windows 10 device?
10/17/2025) I fired up an old Windows 10 machine today and ran updates and was still able to get the 'Enroll Now' capability several days past the end date. 4 for 4.
